AWS calls it Freedom to Fail: the freedom to test an idea, accepting that the answer may be no and that this is fine. We took the principle literally, because in SAP landscapes the expensive failure is not the experiment — it is the project that has already started.

So we do not begin with a contract. We begin with a Proof of Concept: a hypothesis that can be proven wrong, criteria agreed up front, a hard timebox and a hard number. If the hypothesis does not hold, we say so — and you have the answer for a fraction of the cost of the project that would have failed.

We are not afraid of problems we cannot guarantee in advance. We are afraid of promising things we have not tested.
